A Little History

The Marine Corps League was chartered in 1937 by the U.S. Congress as a non-profit Military Organization with the most important objective being to serve the local communities through programs beneficial to all, whether working with youth, helping in community endeavors or assisting veterans. Membership in the Marine Corps League is open to all active duty, retired or honorably-discharged military personnel.

The Detachment

The Upstate Marines Detachment #1106, located in Anderson, SC, was chartered in 2002 and currently has more than 60 members who live in Upstate (northwest) SC and northeast GA. It is the first local branch to be established in the Upstate area to serve Anderson County.

Members realize some of the greatest rewards in life, those of friendship and the sense of individual and group fulfillment through various community programs. Members are especially proud of these programs such as the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard, Toys-For-Tots, and the "Young Marines" program for children and teens between the ages of 8-18.

Donations Gratefully Accepted

Marine Corps League Detachment #1106 is a not-for-profit organization and is exempt from Federal Income Tax under the provisions of 26 U.S.C. §501(c)(4). Donations are gratefully accepted. Please send your tax-deductible contributions to P.O. Box 6274, Anderson, SC 29623.

Monthly meetings are normally held on the second Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m. Visitors are always welcome.

The next monthly business meeting of Upstate Marines Detachment 1106 will be held on Saturday, July 11th, at 9:00 a.m. The Detachment will meet at St. John's Methodist Church in Anderson. The church is located at 515 S. McDuffie Street (on the corner of McDuffie and River streets). Click HERE for a map.
